In 2021, the pandemic still had the world firmly in its grip, raising a number of (human) rights issues. Compulsory vaccination, the right to education, migration - there is much to report on. At the end of this year, we look forward to successful project completions and exciting new research projects in the upcoming spring.
The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) is in the final preparations for the ICL conference, the European Social Charter celebrates its 60th anniversary, the Human Rights Master of the LBI-GMR in cooperation with the University of Vienna has begun and many other exciting events are waiting for us this autumn.
What happens at the LBI-GMR in the summer? We are planning the International Criminal Law before Domestic Courts Conference, pleased about our new cooperations and are working on exciting research projects.
There has been a lot going on at LBI of Fundamental and Human Rights. We are delighted about the exciting tasks that Karin Lukas and Helmut Sax have been taking on. We furthermore present our new colleagues (welcome!), projects, videos and publications.
On 24 September 2020, the University of Vienna and the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft signed a partnership agreement for the joint continuation of our institute and settled the new name "Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights" (LBI-GMR). We are delighted that the strong cooperation with our partners is continuously thriving!
What happens at BIM in summer? We are planning two Human Rights Talks on Hate Speech (Keynote: Fernand de Varennes, UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues) and on Covid-19 & Human Rights (Keynote: Dunja Mijatović, Europe Commissioner for Human Rights) and are working on new, exciting research projects.
