This online seminar, which forms part of a series of five co-funded by the European Commission on enhancing cross-border mutual legal assistance and recognition of decisions within the context of detention, will focus on the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), ECtHR and CJEU case law in dealing with detention conditions and the application of mutual legal assistance instruments.

On 12 January 2021 the Austrian Ombudsman Board, in cooperation with the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) will host an exchange to shine a light on human rights protection in Austria in times of Covid-19 and to discuss how to strengthen the independence of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs). The event will be held from 3.00–4.30 pm and the speeches will be broadcast via livestream and through pre-recorded video messages from the premises of the Austrian Ombudsman Board.
The representatives of the partner organisations (Associazione Antigone, Bulgarian Helsinki Committee, Hungarian Helsinki Committee and Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights) evaluate the past and plan the upcoming project year.
