FRA Management and Executive Board

The FRA comprises the Management Board, the Executive Board, Scientific Committee and the Director.
From 2007 until 2012 Hannes Tretter, former scientific and adminsitrative director of the BIM (now LBI-GMR), was appointed as the Austrian member of the Management Board (MB) of the Agency, elected as the  Vice-Chairperson of the MB and therefore also member of the Excecutive Board (EB) of the FRA. In the years 2012–2017 Manfred Nowak, former scientific director of the BIM (now LBI-GMR), held the very same positions.

The MB plans and monitors the work of the FRA and brings together persons with appropriate experience in the management of public or private sector organisations and knowledge in the field of fundamental rights from the Member States, the European Commission and the Council of Europe. It is composed of:

  • one independent person appointed by each of the Member States of the EU;
  • one independent person appointed by the Council of Europe
  • two representatives of the Commission.

The EB is composed of the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson of the Management Board, two other members of the Management Board and one of the representatives of the European Commission. The Executive Board prepares the decisions of the Management Board and advises the Director.

During their mandates at the FRA Hannes Tretter and Manfred Nowak regularly held Round Tables to provide an overview of the work and tasks of the Agency.

On the occasion of this year's Fundamental Rights Forum, but also in the light of the progress of Vienna as a Human Rights City and the commitment of private individuals to the care and support for refugees, the round table is dedicated to cooperation with civil society.

The FRA ROUNDTABLE 2015

Over 150 people joined Manfred Nowak, the Austrian Member of the Management Board of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) and Scientific Co-Director of the BIM, to welcome Michael O’Flaherty as the new Director of the Agency to Vienna. At the event Michael O’Flaherty introduced not only himself but also his plans and priorities for the Agency for the years to come.

FRA ROUNDTABLE: DIE SITUATION VON LGBT-PERSONEN IN EUROPA

Als österreichisches Mitglied des Verwaltungsrats der EU Agentur für Grundrechte (FRA) lädt Manfred Nowak in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Haus der Europäischen Union herzlich zum diesjährigen FRA-Roundtable ein. Der Runde Tisch widmet sich, anlässlich der EU-weiten LGBT-Umfrage der FRA, die Erfahrungen von mehr als 93.000 LGBT- Personen aus der gesamten Europäischen Union zusammenführt, 2013 dem  Thema "Die Situation von LGBT-Personen in Europa".
