Human Trafficking in Conflict and Crisis Situations

On the occasion of the EU Anti-Trafficking Day the Austrian Task Force on Combating Human Trafficking organizes this conference in cooperation with the OSCE Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC) and the International
Organization for Migration (IOM). The event takes place in the framework of the Austrian OSCE Chairmanship.

Experiences and prevention of violence against persons with disabilities

Research project commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection (BMASK). This research project is currently implemented by the Institute for the Sociology of Law and Criminology (Lead), queraum and BIM. For the first time in Austria this empirical study strives to gather representative data on the diverse experiences of abuse and violence of persons with disabilities. The study focuses on women and men with disabiliteis who live in residental institutions or other specialised services and covers their different experiences of violence in all stages of life.

Consultation for the Austrian Development Co-operation in the thematic fields of Governance, Human Rights and Securing Peace

In 2016, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights won the tender for a framework contract with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). Its goals are to further root and develop Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance, as well as Preventing Conflict and Securing Peace within the work of the Austrian Development Agency and the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.

Violence against Women – Educational measures

As contribution to the National Action Plan on Violence against Women, polis – The Austrian Centre for Citizenship Education in Schools set up a project with educational measures on “Violence against Women” from February 2014 to May 2015. Heartpiece was the development of a “set of materials” containing seven publications on gender-based violence and girls’ and women’s rights. The publications describe the causes of violence, suggest possible solutions and provide exercises and methodological inputs. Teachers and multipliers could order the set of materials for free.

Corporate Liability regarding Trafficking in Human Beings for the purpose of Labour Exploitation and Access to Effective Remedy

In recent years more knowledge has been gained on THB for the purpose of labour exploitation. More and more cases have come to the fore in many economic sectors, including agriculture, construction, garments, care and cleaning work. Nevertheless, as for instance shown in the project COMP.ACT, access to effective remedies is often out of reach for trafficked persons.
