The recent violence in Europe is unsettling and upsetting because, in principle, it can affect anyone, anywhere. The focus of the previous response was mainly on security aspects, upgrading of state security organs or tightening of criminal law provisions. Against this background, this paper offers a first synopsis of developments, initiatives and findings already made in Austria.
