In this legal opinion, Adel-Naim Reyhani (BIM) and Manfred Nowak (BIM) deal with the balancing of interests in the context of interferences with the right to respect for private and family life in Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Specifically, they examine the significance of asylum-seekers’ contributions to the economic well-being of the country through their professional activity in a shortage occupation. In doing so, the authors analyse the relationship between the aims of economic well-being according to Article 8 (2) ECHR and immigration control.
