Spring Conference of the Austrian Lawyer’s Commission

When:

Thu, 26 May 2022- Sat, 28 May 2022

Where:

Hotel Donauschlinge, Schlögen, 4083 Haibach/Donau, Österreich

From Thu, 26 May 2022- Sat, 28 May 2022, the Austrian Lawyers’ Commission (Österreichische Juristenkommission) will hold its spring conference on the topic of “Climate Change and Human Rights”. With this conference, the Austrian Lawyers’ Commission wants to take a look at traditional and proven legal protection mechanisms and examine how far these could be put in the service of climate protection. With a view to fundamental rights, such as the right to life, to a dignified existence, to the integrity of property and to private and family life, which would probably be massively adversely affected by future climate change, the conference will address the following questions, among others: Is it possible to counter the preliminary effects of impending encroachments on fundamental rights in good time by means of conventional legal protection mechanisms? Is there a need for more advanced fundamental rights dogmatics? Are we creative enough for the seat and voice of nature in court?

Our colleague Margit Ammer is one of the speakers of the 3rd working session “Climate Change and Legal Protection” and will speak on Fri, 27 May 2022, at 2:00 p.m. on the topic “Human and Refugee Rights Obligations in the Context of Migration and Climate Change”.

For more information on the event and registration, please see the program in the download section below or visit the Austrian Lawyers’ Commission website. Registration open until Thu, 5 May 2022.
