Experts will discuss the topic of rights of nature as part of the BOKU Cinema series.
On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) will host another film and discussion evening as part of its ‘BOKU Cinema: Film Series with Discussion’ programme, focusing on shortcomings in the pursuit of a sustainable world. The film ‘Invisible Hand’ will be shown – a documentary about the concept and creation of the rights of nature. Camilla Haake, PostDoc at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR), will then engage in a discussion on this topic together with experts and address the following questions: Who will speak for nature? How can nature be protected? What rights can benefit nature (conservation) and how does nature as a legal entity influence our relationship with it? What can we (in the Western world) learn from indigenous peoples when it comes to nature conservation?
