On November 7, 2025, the Global Compact Network Austria is hosting a multi-stakeholder roundtable on the topic of living wages, bringing together actors from the private sector, civil society, academia, and the United Nations.

Living wages are a central component of corporate responsibility to respect human rights. Companies that promote fair wages contribute to compliance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the same time, they invest in more stable supply chains, higher product quality, and sustainable business relationships, and prepare for future legal requirements.

Camilla Haake and Stephen Rabenlehner from the Sustainability, Development, Economy, and Social Affairs (NEWS) program line at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights will give a presentation on the human rights aspects of this topic.

Other speakers include representatives from the International Labor Organization (ILO), Fairtrade Austria, and the private sector.
