Online closing event of the EU project CARES

The research results of the EU project CARES will be presented at an online closing event.

The EU project “CARES: Child-centered and Accessible crisis-Response for an Effective protection System” deals with experiences from the COVID-19 pandemic with regard to children’s rights and child protection. On Tuesday, 23 July 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the European closing event of the project will take place online.

As part of the final event, the research results in the three participating countries Belgium, Croatia and Austria will be presented, followed by three expert contributions and three short online exchange groups on the national results of the countries.

Programme:

  • 10:00 a.m.: Welcome, introduction to the EU project – Julien van der Noot, Defense for Children International, Belgium (lead)
  • 10:20 a.m.: Contribution on child participation – Cecile Jeannin, Académie internationale droits de l’enfant, Geneva
  • 10:35 am: Overview of joint results and recommendations, incl. European level, discussion – Helmut Sax, Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights, Vienna
  • 11:10 a.m.: Break
  • 11:15 am: Contribution to health impacts – Andrea Cosic, University of Zagreb
  • 11:30 am: Overview of methods of the CARES project – Jelena Tomic, Hrabri Telephone, Croatia
  • 11:40 am: Contribution on experiences of an ombudsperson institution for children – Claudia Grasl, Vienna Ombuds Office for Children and Youths
  • 11:55 a.m.: Acknowledgements and outlook – Julien van der Noot, Defense for Children International, Belgium (lead)
  • 12:00 p.m.: Concluding exchange at national level in 3 Zoom breakout sessions
