More than 7 million children worldwide are deprived of their personal freedom – in detention centers, prisons, homes and other institutions. In Austria, quite a few children are affected as well.

On the occasion of the publication of the “UN Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty” and the 30th anniversary of the signing of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights will hold a press conference in Vienna on Wed, 20 November 2019, at which human rights expert Manfred Nowak and children’s rights expert Helmut Sax will present the results of the study. The study deals with children deprived of their liberty and will be presented with a focus on the situation in Austria.
