When:

9 May 2025; 1:00 p.m.

Where:

International and Austrian scientists will discuss the concept of the Rights of Nature at a conference at the Sigmund Freund Private University in Vienna in May 2025.

Rights of nature have already been recognised in several countries. For some years now, they have also been increasingly recognised in European and German-speaking legal discourse. At a conference on 9 May 2025 at the Sigmund Freund Private University of Vienna, renowned international and Austrian scientists will examine the concept from different perspectives. Camilla Haake, PostDoc at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR), will take part in the event and will address the following questions together with the panellists: In which states are the rights of nature already enshrined in (constitutional) law? What legal theory and philosophical considerations form the basis of rights of nature? And how can the rights of nature be operationalised?
