Talk show about the rights of children

When:

Wednesday, 20 November 2024, 6:00 p.m.

Where:

Dschungel Wien in the MuseumsQuartier, Museumplatz 1, 1070 Vienna

On the International Day of the Rights of the Child, ASSITEJ, the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People, is hosting a talk show about children’s rights and their access to art and culture.

On Wednesday, 20 November 2024, experts will discuss the rights of children and their participation in art and culture in a talk show at Dschungel Wien. Among them is Helmut Sax, Senior Researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights. Together they will look at the following questions: Does every child have the same opportunities and chances to participate? What barriers and exclusions exist and how can we change them? How can we enable access to art and culture for children and young people with disabilities, disadvantages or at risk? Can we develop joint strategies in the artistic and educational institutions as well as in the responsible ministries and the City of Vienna?

The event commemorates the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 35 years ago, which, among other things, enshrines freedom of expression and information as well as equal access to art and culture for children. ASSITEJ, the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People, is committed to ensuring that these obligations are implemented more effectively.

The event is free of charge and no registration is required.
