Children’s Rights at the Intersection of Constitutional Law and Practice
On 12 January 2026, a well-attended conference at the Vienna University of Economics and Business focused on “The Federal Constitutional Act on the Rights of Children: Impact and Potential in Theory and Practice.”
The conference addressed the constitutional foundations of the Federal Constitutional Act on the Rights of Children as well as key fields of application, including protection from violence, child and youth welfare, and children’s rights in the school context. Particular attention was given to the tension between normative legal standards and their practical implementation.
Helmut Sax, children’s rights expert and Senior Researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights, contributed a presentation on the thematic focus of protection from violence.
