China–EU Seminar on Human Rights

On 21 June 2019, Michael Lysander Fremuth, Scientific Director of the Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights, spoke at the first “China-EU Seminar on Human Rights” in Vienna about his understanding of the universality of human rights as an invitation to dialogue.

He explained that the recognition, content and possible restrictions of human rights could in part be disputed, but that a serious human rights dialogue requires the recognition of the universal idea of human rights as well as a commitment to the dignity of every human being as its basis.

Fremuth’s lecture will be published later this year.
