Cyber security, data protection and artificial intelligence
Michael Lysander Fremuth gave a lecture at the University of Bonn on the human rights aspects of dealing with artificial intelligence.
Is there a human right to a human decision? Michael Lysander Fremuth, Scientific Director of our Institute and Professor of Fundamental and Human Rights at the University of Vienna, addressed this and other exciting questions on 15 July 2025 at the invitation of the Young German International Law Association at the University of Bonn.
Together with colleagues from Germany and Belgium, he discussed legal issues relating to “Cybersecurity, data protection and artificial intelligence in the light of international law”. In his presentation, Fremuth introduced international regulatory approaches to artificial intelligence (AI) and evaluated these as well as the European Union’s AI Regulation. He also addressed the justification for a human right to a human decision. This was followed by an exciting discussion with renowned expert in technology and data protection law, Professor Indra Spieker, known as Döhmann, of the University of Cologne, which was followed with great interest by the audience.
