The Science Ambassadors initiative of the Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) is part of the ‘Science and Democracy Communication’ focus area of the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research. The initiative aims to strengthen trust in science and democracy and inspire young people to engage in research.

Since April 2025, our colleague Johanna Blimlinger, Researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR), has also been participating in this programme. After Camilla Haake, Johanna is now the second science ambassador at the LBI-GMR. As a science ambassador, she brings her expertise to Austrian schools, talks about her career and provides insights into her everyday work as a scientist. This gives students the opportunity to ask questions and experience research first-hand. In this way, the initiative creates encounters on an equal footing and makes an important contribution to communicating scientific and democratic values.
