The LBI-GMR wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

As a year full of interesting insights and lively exchanges comes to an end, the LBI-GMR team wishes you a relaxing holiday season, thanks you for your continued interest, and looks forward to 2026.

As 2025 draws to a close, we reflect on two successful Human Rights Talks: most recently, the focus was on “System Crashers” – How should society deal with children with conspicuous behaviour who are below the age of criminal responsibility? Earlier, in October, we addressed Unwanted memory of Stalin’s repressions – human rights, power politics and historical narratives. The year was further shaped by well-attended events, successful project completions and new publications.

We are also pleased to report the launch of three new research projects. The FWF-funded project Externalisation and Rightlessness examines how individuals are excluded from legal protection in the context of the externalisation of migration control. Women with Disabilities as Mentors for Economic Self-Determination* works together with those affected to develop approaches that strengthen visibility and empowerment and help reduce mental load. Anchor Points explores artistic and creative methods that open up new forms of participation for people living with Alzheimer’s in rural regions.

We look forward to keeping you regularly informed about these and our ongoing projects in the coming year.

We wish you peaceful and restful holidays and a good start to the New Year 2026.
