EU Support for Rule of Law in North Macedonia: Publication of the sixth Quarterly Report
The quarterly report provides insights into the project’s achievements, particularly in combating organized crime and protecting children’s rights.
Between November 2024 and February 2025, significant progress was achieved within the framework of the “EU Support for Rule of Law” in North Macedonia project, supported and funded by the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR).
In the field of the fight against organized crime, a working visit of a high-level delegation from North Macedonia to Slovenia took place. The focus was both on strengthening the capacities of the Macedonian Ministry of Interior and on providing advanced training in undercover investigation methods and criminal police analysis. During a workshop organized by the Slovenian Ministry of Interior, participants gained hands-on insights into best practices and innovative approaches.
Another key event was the presentation of the National Action Plan for Children’s Rights (2024–2028) on November 21, 2024, at the Government Hall in Skopje. The plan was developed through a comprehensive, participatory process involving various stakeholders from different institutions, with active participation of children. Following its expected adoption in the coming months, the project will support the ministry in implementing concrete measures and developing a monitoring tool for the action plan.
A highlight of the project quarter was the Forum of Impulses on December 4, 2024—an interactive event aimed at strengthening the independence of human rights institutions. Representatives from independent institutions, government agencies, civil society organizations, international projects, academia, and the judiciary came together to network, learn from each other, and develop strategic measures to safeguard institutional independence. The forum provided a valuable platform for exchanging best practices and promoting sustainable structures for human rights protection.
