The course, which was taught for the second consecutive year, was met with great interest and positive feedback from students. It examines the international and domestic legal responses to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, covering topics such as the legal qualification and documentation of violations under international law, the establishment of investigative and reporting mechanisms, the collection and preservation of evidence, and the pursuit of accountability through international and national judicial proceedings. The course also explores mechanisms for ensuring reparations for victims and the broader legal framework for post-war justice and reconstruction.

A particular highlight of this year’s course was the participation of distinguished guest speakers. Among them was Markiyan Kliychkovskiy, Executive Director of the Council of Europe Register of Damage for Ukraine (RD4U), who delivered a lecture on the international compensation mechanism for damage caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Together with Nazarii Stetsyk, he discussed the establishment of the Register of Damage, the broader compensation mechanism, and current international efforts to secure full reparation for victims in accordance with international law.
