Nazarii Stetsyk, MSCA4Ukraine fellow at the University of Vienna and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR), presented his research at two major international conferences in the field of comparative constitutional law during summer 2026.

ICON•S Annual Conference, Dublin, Ireland

From Monday, June 29, 2026, to Wednesday, July 1, 2026, he participated in the ICON•S Annual Conference “Reimagining Public Law for a Fractured World: Technology, Identity and Truth”, hosted by the UCD Sutherland School of Law in Dublin, Ireland. During the conference, he presented two papers entitled “Constitutional Perspectives on Ukraine’s European Integration: What Can Comparative Constitutional Studies Contribute?“ and “Judicial Dialogue on Fundamental Rights: A Comparative European Perspective“. The presentations examined the role of comparative constitutional law, judicial dialogue and fundamental rights in the context of European integration, with particular attention to the legal and constitutional challenges facing Ukraine on its path towards EU membership.

World Congress of Constitutional Law, Bogotá, Colombia

From Monday, July 06, 2026, to Friday, July 10, 2026, Nazarii participated in the World Congress of Constitutional Law (WCCL), hosted by Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogotá, Colombia. At the Congress, he presented two additional papers: “Judicial Dialogue and the Limits of European Integration: A Comparative Constitutional Perspective“ and “Venice Commission and Constitutional Standards on the Relationship between International and National Law“. These contributions examined the interaction between national constitutional orders, international law, and European legal standards, drawing particular attention to their relevance for Ukraine’s ongoing legal transformation and European integration.

International academic exchange

The conference panels provided an opportunity to discuss the research findings with scholars from different legal systems and to exchange perspectives on contemporary developments in constitutional law and European integration.”Presenting my research at these two leading international conferences was an excellent opportunity to share recent findings on judicial dialogue, the protection of fundamental rights, and the legal challenges of Ukraine’s European integration and to raise awareness of Ukraine’s ongoing constitutional and legal reforms“, said Nazarii Stetsyk.

Participation in both conferences formed part of Stetsyk’s MSCA4Ukraine research project, “Human Rights and Judicial Dialogues in the EU: Strengthening the Perspective of the Ukrainian Judiciary in EU Integration“.
