The ONE in FIVE Campaign Strengthens Child Protection in Bitola, North Macedonia
Since November 2025, educators and relevant professionals in Bitola, North Macedonia, have been trained on prevention and protection measures regarding sexual violence against children. Building on this, interactive workshops using age-appropriate materials have been held, with more than 170 students having already participated.
As part of the EU-funded project “EU Support for Rule of Law in North Macedonia“, a campaign to prevent sexual violence against children is being implemented, based on the Council of Europe’s global ‘ONE in FIVE’ campaign. These measures aim to raise awareness of sexual violence in environments where children should feel safe, and encourage them to speak out about it. At the same time, parents, caregivers and professionals are to be informed about protection, prevention and support options.
Alongside the workshops, materials from the Council of Europe have been adapted to the local context and made available in Macedonian and Albanian language. These include videos, posters, informational materials, and guides for parents, caregivers, and educators. These are distributed through schools, institutions, social media, and websites.
“EU Support for Rule of Law in North Macedonia” is a project led by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights in cooperation with CILC (Center for International Legal Cooperation), Netherlands; the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia; the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration of the Republic of Croatia.
