VIDEO “Open research behind closed doors: Assessing the impact of COVID-19 measures on persons with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities deprived of liberty”

The video provides insights into the experiences of persons with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities being detained during the COVID-19 pandemic and makes recommendations on how to improve the situation of those affected.

The research project “Open research behind closed doors: Assessing the impact of COVID-19 measures on persons with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities deprived of liberty” was carried out from July 2020 to March 2021 by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights in cooperation with partners from Italy (Associazione Antigone) and Germany (Strafvollzugsarchiv, Fachhochschule Dortmund).

The research team, including Nora Katona and Giuliana Monina from the LBI-GMR, applied methods of open science and innovation, whereby affected persons, their relatives as well as national and international stakeholders were actively involved in the project.
