The panel discussion will take place on the occasion of the presentation of the report on the Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty to the General Assembly by independent expert Manfred Nowak.

The Global Study is the first scientific attempt, based on global data, to assess the extent of the situation of children deprived of liberty, possible justifications and main causes, as well as conditions of detention and the harmful effects on children’s health and development. Manfred Nowak will present the study’s findings, conclusions and recommendations in New York on Tue, 8 October 2019.
