The conference “Supply Chain Responsibility: Human Rights without Borders?” will take place at the University of Graz on Friday, 18 October 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It forms part of the event series Graz Dialogue on Private Law and is being organised by ESR ETL, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) together with the University of Vienna and the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The starting point of the conference will be the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which came into force on 25 July 2024, as well as related civil and public law issues of breach of due diligence, corresponding liability/exculpation and jurisdictional aspects. Haake and Rabenlehner will report, inter alia, on their research project Audits and certifications in the supply/value chain which is currently being carried out in cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Labour and the Institute for Sustainability, Corporate Law and Reporting (INUR) at the University of Cologne, and will speak on the possibilities of exculpating companies and the potential contribution of audits and certifications in this context.
