On Wed, 23 March 2022, the European Committee of Social Rights (ESCR), chaired by Karin Lukas, Programme Line Manager at the LBI-GMR and President of the ESCR, published its 2021 Conclusions. Based on reports submitted by States Parties and civil society organisations, the Committee examined the situation in 33 Council of Europe member states for conformity with articles of the European Social Charter (ESC) relating to the thematic group “Health, Social Security and Social Protection”. According to the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR), there are major deficits, especially in the areas of health and safety at work, maternal and child mortality and the rights of older people.

The press conference on the presentation of the 2021 conclusions is available here in English.
Karin Lukas gave a brief overview of the conclusions in an interview with Andreas Stangl/APA. The article can be read on ORF here.

A more comprehensive overview of the conclusions is given by our colleague Vincent Perle in an article (German only) available as PDF in the download section below.
