Children’s Rights and Participation – developing indicators for schools

About the Project

Main question of the projects is: What role do children’s rights and participation play in school?

At the WMS Leipziger Platz (ger), in the 20th district of Vienna, scientists, the headmaster and the teachers, students and parents tried to find out which aspects are important to agree on children’s rights. Which indicators already exist?  Which aspects are already realized at this school or, rather, how can you realize them taking into consideration the different perspectives of teachers, students and parents?

On the basis of the results and analysis, the scientists developed a “Children’s Rights Index”, which was tested and evaluated. Another research question pointed out how you can also implement the Index in other schools. The results are available for other schools as well.

The results of the project – Children’s Rights Index including a guideline for application, research studies and a report of the project – are available for free download on the website of Zentrum polis (ger).
