Study Inclusive Ageing
The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights participated in the study “Inclusive Ageing”, whose results and recommendations for action were presented in early November 2022.
On Mon., 7 November 2022 the results of the study “Inclusive Ageing” were presented. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) and “querraum.kultur- und sozialforschung” conducted a study on behalf of Lebenshilfe Soziale Dienste GmbH and Lebenshilfe Austria entitled “Support and accompaniment of elderly/old people with life-long intellectual disabilities or high support needs in Austria”.
For the first time, recommendations for action for the future design of offers and services for the target group of “older people with disabilities” were developed. These were presented during the presentation in front of about 160 online- participants.
The topic of “inclusive ageing” is more important than ever: The average age of the residents of residential facilities is increasing more and more. Although staff members consider the individual needs of people with lifelong intellectual disabilities, there is no structural or systemic anchoring. This is called “invisible ageing.”
