Volume 20 of the BIM Study Series deals with human rights violations in the wake of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. Together with allied states, the US government under George W. Bush had suspected terrorists taken to secret CIA prisons and subjected to “enhanced interrogation methods” without due process. This practice is one of the biggest violations of human rights in the so-called “war on terrorism”.

The current volume is the result of the workshop “Extraordinary Renditions and the Protection of Human Rights”, organised by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights.
