Marriage for all is possible in Austria since 1 August 2019. With this step, the Alpine republic has drawn level with many states in Western Europe, but also with the American double continent. At the same time, people of the LGBTIQ community continue to face discrimination not only in Austria and Europe.

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights and the University of Vienna invite you to the symposium “Somewhere beyond the Rainbow? – Human Rights and LGBTIQ” which will take place on Tue, 24 September 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kleiner Festsaal of the University of Vienna (Universitätsring 1, 1010 Vienna).

During the event, international experts will shed light on the LGBTIQ human rights situation from international, European and national perspectives. Among others, Victor Madrigal Borloz, UN Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, has agreed to be a keynote speaker.
