Wim Wenders presents Luca Lucchesi’s documentary “A Black Jesus” – a result of two years of in-depth research in the community of Siculiana and a modern parable about the fine line towards equality and brotherhood among all people. The film sends the audience on a journey that explores the origins of fear and prejudice towards “the others”.

Film Synopsis: In a small town on the southern border of Europe, people have venerated the statue of a black Jesus for many centuries. When 19-year-old Edward from Ghana, a resident of the much-discussed refugee center, asks to be allowed to carry the Jesus statue through the town with the locals in the big annual procession, the residents of Siculiana are challenged to come to terms with their own identity, starting with the icon of their faith: a black Jesus.
