On Tue, 7 May 2019, the conference “Quality Standards for Inpatient Child and Youth Care”, organized by FICE Austria, will take place at the premises of the Ombudsman Board in Vienna. In the course of about one and a half years, 20 organizations and institutions nationwide developed uniform, child rights-oriented quality criteria, which are now presented to the public; at the same time, the event marks the start of a broad further discussion process on quality in child and youth welfare.

For more information on the process, see: www.fice.at/qualitaetsstandards

The Ludwig B9oltzmann Instiutute of Fundamental and Human Rights supports this process, which is of particular importance in ensuring uniform, non-discriminatory quality standards in view of the upcoming “change” of responsibilities in the field of child and youth welfare. At the event, Helmut Sax will give a keynote speech on “Empowerment through children’s rights – Why children and child and youth welfare benefit from a children’s rights approach”.
