“Human rights, democracy and the rule of law are universal values to which the international community, i.e. all the states of this world, have committed themselves and which they fail to observe and violate en masse. Today, however, it is not just a question of human rights being violated, but of values behind human rights suddenly no longer being recognized as values. Governments are less interested in human rights because it’s a polarizing issue. But civil society is becoming more active,” says Manfred Nowak, co-founder of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights.
At the Leuchtpunkte Talk, Manfred Nowak will discuss the topic of human rights with actress Julia Stemberger. The talk will be followed by a book signing with Manfred Nowak. Numerous of his books will be available.
