The International Human Rights Film Festival This Human World will take place for the 12th time in Vienna from Thu, 28 November 2019 – Tue, 10 December 2019 and offers exciting film premieres followed by discussions. Novaya tells the story of how critical media in Russia are under pressure and what restrictions on freedom of expression mean: Novaya Gazeta is one of the last independent newspapers in the country. A characteristic that has serious consequences for the newsroom. For his film, filmmaker Askold Kurov follows the daily life of the editorial staff for 18 months.

The film screening will take place on the occasion of the awarding of the 2018 Sakharov Prize to Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Senzov in cooperation with the European Parliament. It is followed by a panel discussion.
