Online via Zoom

On Wed, 10 November 2021, Helmut Sax, child rights expert and senior researcher at LBI-GMR, participated in the online press conference “Balance of the EU project Safe Places” and gave a statement on the topic “Challenges of quality assurance – Why are child protection concepts so important and central pillars in quality assurance”.

With the EU project “Safe Places”, the project partners ECPAT Austria, the Federal Association of Austrian Child Protection Centers and the Children’s Rights Network have succeeded in the last two years in significantly raising awareness of the need for violence protection concepts in child and youth work through concrete measures such as workshops, consultation, online platform and lobbying. Still open are the demand for a legal obligation as well as an anchoring as a criterion for funding for all structures working with children, the demand for an independent body for children’s agendas, as well as the urgent wish for an omnibus law at the federal level following the example of Germany. What has been achieved in concrete terms and what is still missing was presented by the child protection experts at an online press conference on November 10, 2021. (c) ECPAT Austria
