Tue, 7 December 2021 – 17:00 to 19:00
Palais de l’Europe, Room 1, second floor, Strasbourg, France
On Tue, 7 December 2021 – 17:00 to 19:00, Karin Lukas, Senior Researcher and Head of Programme Line at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights as well as President of the European Committee of Social Rights, presented the commentary “The Revised European Social Charter“.
The in-depth commentary explores the limits of social rights at the European level through an analysis of the Revised European Social Charter, the most comprehensive regional document on social rights. The commentary considers the Charter as the counterpart to the European Convention on Human Rights and examines how it establishes fundamental rights in the social sphere. The commentary focuses primarily on the extensive case law developed by the Charter’s monitoring body, the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR).
The event featured a question-and-answer session with Karin Lukas (author) and Cathie Burton (Senior Editorial Adivser), followed by a panel discussion with distinguished experts on “The Future of Social Rights.”
