Virtual Symposium: The spirits I called
Wed, 9 September 2020 – 9:30 to 14:30
Online-Symposium
Artificial intelligence and its impact on society, democracy and education:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is omnipresent without us always being aware of it. It makes our everyday lives easier, for example when our cell phone is unlocked using facial recognition.
It can also manipulate us humans. Can it thus become a threat to democracy? The first signs of this apparent development were seen in the Brexit vote and the U.S. presidential election. To ensure that we don’t end up like Goethe’s sorcerer’s apprentice, the symposium will first work out how artificial intelligence affects all of our lives, if AI is already “thinking” everywhere or has even taken over thinking, how this development influences our democratic system and how we can deal with it in education.
Zentrum polis is participating with an online workshop on Digital Citizenship Education.
