The Covid-19 pandemic and the related measures and restrictions brought social rights under an enormous strain all over Europe. The pandemic starkly exposed the weaknesses of public health services and the pressing need to make them effective and accessible to everyone. The statement of the European Committee of Social Rights is a roadmap for states in view of the difficult decisions on law, policy and resource allocation that will have to be taken in the coming years.
