In November 2015, the FRAME WP 11 Workshop “When the going gets tough: Human rights in times of economic hardship” took place in Turku/Abo, Finland.

The aim of this workshop was twofold. First, it offered a state of the art analysis of the relationship between economic crises and human rights protection. Second, it seeked to explore how reduced financial resources affect the functioning of the EU’s Area of Freedom, Security and Justice.

Karin Lukas, Team Leader for Human Rights in Development Cooperation and Business, gave a lecture about social rights under pressure in the EU and the potential of the European Social Charter.
