A newly established Kinderwohlkommission (Child Welfare Commission) headed by Irmgard Griss is dedicated to the welfare of children in the asylum sector and will present its report in the middle of the year.

Helmut Sax. Senior Researcher at Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights, has been nominated to join the commission. “Children are independent holders of human rights, and these rights must also be guaranteed independently: with specific quality standards for procedures and for the examination of the well-being of the child itself. As a member of the Commission, I will do my utmost to ensure this,” the child rights expert says.
