User-generated Content and Trafficking in Human Beings

The link between technology and crime in the context of human trafficking was the topic of a symposium organised by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights.

On Tuesday, 31 October 2023, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) held a symposium on the topic of “User-generated Content and Trafficking in Human Beings”, organized by Konstantina Stavrou and Helmut Sax.

The symposium focused on the link between technology and crime in the context of human trafficking. Current and future research projects in this area were discussed. The aim was to promote research and concrete options for action in this highly topical area.

The symposium included presentations from members of academia (Human Rights Centre – UC Berkeley School of Law, Swansea University, University of Bristol), international organisations (UNODC, CoE/GRETA, OSCE) and national bodies (Dutch National Rapporteur Office, Austrian Ministry of Interior), as well as international and national victim protection experts.

You can find the report on the symposium here or in the download area.
