Camilla Haake has been heading the “Sustainability, Development, Business, Social” research group since July 2024. After working as an attorney, she joined the LBI-GMR as a researcher in June 2023 and since then has helped to shape the research portfolio of this research group, which emerged from the former research groups “Social Justice for Disadvantaged People” and “Business and Development Cooperation”. Her research focuses on the intersection of human rights business on the one hand and with nature and environmental protection on the other, as well as on the subjective rights of non-human entities, particularly the “rights of nature.” In addition, Camilla is working on her habilitation thesis, also in the field of “rights of nature.”
Camilla studied law at the Universities of Konstanz, Trier, and the Université d’Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand, France) and earned her doctorate with a dissertation on international innovation and technology law. During her doctoral studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair for Public Law, especially in International and European Law, of Prof. Dr. Alexander Proelß, as well as at the Institute for Legal Policy at the University of Trier. Following her German legal clerkship, which included placements in Trier, Speyer, Frankfurt, Bremen, and Vienna, Camilla worked as an attorney in the field of banking and capital markets law at the Munich office of an international law firm.
