In recent years, Austria has adapted several procedural safeguards regarding access to a lawyer, legal aid, presumption of innocence, and procedural guarantees for children and adolescents in implementing the so-called “Roadmap Directives” of the European Union.

On Wed, January 26, 2022, 18:00 an online discussion events offers the opportunity to address the practical challenges in this regard, e.g., the principle of presumption of innocence in the field of tension between procedural safeguards and public interest. The event takes place within the framework of the EU project “Breaking the barriers: rights based participatory judicial training on procedural rights“.
