Altes AKH, Spittalgasse 2, Hof 1, 1090 Vienna

As part of the Alsergrund Summer of Culture, there will be an art installation including a programme on the topic of flight and clothing on 11 and 12 July.

On 11 and 12 July 2023, UNHCR, with the participation of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights and the University of Vienna, invites you to the campus of the University of Vienna (Altes AKH, Spittalgasse 2, Hof 1, 1090 Vienna). There you will find the art installation “Inhabitable/ Bewohnbar” all day long with free admission.

The multimedia art installation includes sculptures, fabrics, a refugee tent and sound recordings that explore the relationship between clothing and flight.

The installation will be accompanied by a supporting programme on the afternoons (each day from 14:00- 18:00). Among other things, interesting interlocutors (so-called “living books”) will be on site on both days to share their experiences on the topic of flight and asylum. The scientific director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights, Michael Lysander Fremuth, will be available as a living book on LGBTIQ+ in the context of asylum and migration on 12 July from 16:00 to 17:00.

You can find the detailed programme here or in the download area.
