Conference on Combating Human Trafficking

Child rights expert Helmut Sax addresses promising child protection practices at the conference “No Future for Human Trafficking”.

The conference on combating human trafficking offers a panel discussion, five workshops and many prestigious guests. Under the title “No Future for Human Trafficking” the Task Force Human Trafficking Austria invites to the Vienna School of International Studies on Thu., 13 October 2022 from 8:45-17:45.

Senior researcher and child rights expert Helmut Sax from the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) will be leading a workshop entitled “Safe Places for Trafficked Children? Promising Practices of Specialized Shelters for Children” in the course of the conference together with ECPAT Austria from 13:30 to 16:00.

The workshop aims to identify promising practices from existing (international) shelter models, as well as relevant child protection systems. In this way, helpful experiences for the establishment of shelters in Austria and other countries will be gained. At the end of the workshop, Helmut Sax, as well as the leaders of the other workshops, will report on the most important findings from 16:30- 17:00.

The entire conference will focus on three topics that have become extremely relevant in recent years and will be discussed in depth:

  • Digitalisation
  • COVID 19 pandemic
  • financial aspects of trafficking in human beings

In addition, the experts will give an outlook on future developments in human trafficking and try to work out how it can be prevented.

The conference is a public event and free of charge. All participants are requested to fill in the online registration form by Mon., 10 October 2022.
