International Human Rights Conference in Vienna at the end of September 2023

30 years after the UN World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna leading experts will discuss achievements, developments as well as challenges with regard to the protection of human rights.

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights and the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law of the University of Vienna invite to the international conference “UN World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna 1993 – Strengthening Imperatives 30 Years After” to be held in Vienna from Wednesday, 27, to Friday, 29 September 2023. The high-level conference is organised in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria as well as with a large number of national and international research institutions and organisations. It will take place in the main ceremonial hall of the University of Vienna and in the Palais Trautson.

What is the state of international human rights protection? 30 years after the adoption of the Vienna Declaration on Human Rights and its Programme of Action, the interdisciplinary conference will not only look back at past achievements and developments but also address current and future challenges. The event is aimed at academics, representatives of practice and civil society as well as the interested public.
