Strengthening relationships between judiciary and NPMs – final conference

Datum

Mittwoch, 16. November 2016 (Ganztägig) bis Donnerstag, 17. November 2016 (Ganztägig)

Ort

Wien, Österreich

On the 16 and 17 November 2016 in Vienna, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) together with the Academy of European Law (ERA), are hosting the final conference as part of a European Commission DG Justice funded project in which we aim to ensure the respect of fundamental rights in the implementation of cross border criminal processes, in particular the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) and other mutual recognition instruments relating to detention. In furthering these objectives, this project addresses how judges can guarantee the rights and obligations enshrined in Article 3 ECHR and 4 CFREU while executing European Arrest Warrants through creating links with NPMs, raising awareness of the EU framework decisions on detention that seek to address overcrowding and facilitate rehabilitation, and more generally promoting human rights in the context of criminal justice. The final study will be published in February 2017.
