“A wake up call for the public” – Violence against women with disabilities

The international campaign 16 days against gender violence takes place from 25 November to 10 December 2015. A special vulnerable group of women are women with disabilities. They are two or three times more likely to be exposed to violence than women in the average population (Schröttle/Homberg, 2013) and experiences of violence are more complex since they are often characterized by relationships of dependency.

Sabine Mandl and Claudia Sprenger wrote the article “Einmal die Bevölkerung wachrütteln, dass es soetwas überhaupt gibt” (in German), which informs about the relevant findings of the EU project “Access to specialized victim support services for women with disabilities who have experienced violence“.

The article will be published in: AEP Informationen. Feministische Zeitschrift für Politik und Gesellschaft Nr. 4/2015 (42. Jhg.), S. 19-23
