In 2022, the annual conference of the “Association of Human Rights Institutes” (AHRI) took place in Africa for the first time. From Thu., 1 to Sat., 3 September 2022, the participants met at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR) was represented by its scientific director, Michael Lysander Fremuth who also undertook moderating a panel.

The theme of this year’s conference was the relationship between technologies and human rights. It offered participants the opportunity to reflect on the impact of new technologies on human rights. They also contemplated how human rights can guide the development, design and implementation of new technologies.
