EU Support for Rule of Law in North Macedonia: Release of the Second Quarterly Report

The second quarterly report shows numerous relevant findings and practical successes, including in the judiciary, the fight against corruption and protection against discrimination.

During the second quarter of the project “EU Support for Rule of Law in North Macedonia 2.0” supported and funded by the Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), from 8 November 2023 – 7 February 2024, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR), alongside its consortium partners and key players in the public administration of North Macedonia, are pleased to announce the following results: the Developmental Strategy for Judiciary 2024-2028 was adopted by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, training sessions on effective communication were delivered to employees in the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination and the Ombudsman Office, and a study visit to the Slovenian Ministry of Interior was conducted. Additionally, a pivotal step was taken to integrate children – through active participation and a Children’s Panel – into the process of preparing the National Action Plan on the Rights of the Child.  A campaign led by several young participants also raised awareness on children’s rights, which marked the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in North Macedonia.

All Quarterly Reports can be found on the project website under https://rolaw.mk/publications/ where they can also be read as online flipbook and accessed in audio version.
